3And Judah begot <n>(fathered)</n> Perez and Zerah <n>(twins)</n> by Tamar, and Perez begot <n>(fathered)</n> Hezron, and Hezron begot <n>(fathered)</n> Aram,
4and Aram begot <n>(fathered)</n> Aminadab, and Aminadab begot <n>(fathered)</n> Nahshon, and Nahshon begot <n>(fathered)</n> Salmon,
5and Salmon begot <n>(fathered)</n> Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz begot <n>(fathered)</n> Obed by Ruth, and Obed begot <n>(fathered)</n> Jesse,
6and Jesse begot <n>(fathered)</n> David the king. And David the king begot <n>(fathered)</n> Solomon by her that had been the wife of Uriah,
7and Solomon begot <n>(fathered)</n> Rehoboam, and Rehoboam begot <n>(fathered)</n> Abijah, and Abijah begot <n>(fathered)</n> Asa,
8and Asa begot <n>(fathered)</n> Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat begot <n>(fathered)</n> Joram, and Joram begot <n>(fathered)</n> Uzziah,
9and Uzziah begot <n>(fathered)</n> Jotham, and Jotham begot <n>(fathered)</n> Ahaz, and Ahaz begot <n>(fathered)</n> Hezekiah,
10and Hezekiah begot <n>(fathered)</n> Manasseh, and Manasseh begot <n>(fathered)</n> Amon, and Amon begot <n>(fathered)</n> Josiah,
11and Josiah begot <n>(fathered)</n> Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away <n>(μετοικεσία)</n> to Babylon.
12And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begot <n>(fathered)</n> Salathiel, and Salathiel begot <n>(fathered)</n> Zerubbabel,
13and Zerubbabel begot <n>(fathered)</n> Abiud, and Abiud begot <n>(fathered)</n> Eliakim, and Eliakim begot <n>(fathered)</n> Azor,
14and Azor begot <n>(fathered)</n> Zadok, and Zadok begot <n>(fathered)</n> Achim, and Achim begot <n>(fathered)</n> Eliud,
15and Eliud begot <n>(fathered)</n> Eleazar, and Eleazar begot <n>(fathered)</n> Matthan, and Matthan begot <n>(fathered)</n> Jacob,
16and Jacob begot <n>(fathered)</n> Joseph, the husband of Mary of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ <n>(the Messiah)</n>.
17So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
18Conception of Christ Jesus; Born of Mary—5 BC<br/>Now the birth of Jesus Christ was in this way: When His mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit .
19And Joseph her husband, being a just man and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away <n>(by divorce)</n> privily.
20But while he thought on these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, you son of David, fear not to take unto you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit .
21And she shall bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS [Yahushua], for He shall save His people from their sins."
22Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23"Behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel " <n>(which being interpreted is, "God with us")</n>.
24Then Joseph, being raised from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife,
25and knew her not until she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.
